Fundamentals of energy audit of buildings and constructions

Training session  «Fundamentals of Energy Audit of Buildings and Constructions »  is a practical training session for chairpersons and members of the housing cooperatives and associations, management companies interested in improvement of energy efficiency of the residential houses, cost saving in payment for the energy resources and improvement of conveniences.

Program targets:

1. To create fundamentals knowledge of:

  • energy efficiency, energy saving and energy consumption processes in the residential houses;
  • conducting energy audit of the buildings and understanding the process as a whole and learning practical skills of conducting energy audit.

2. To develop skills sufficient to prepare energy saving measures, adopt qualified decisions on thermal modernisation of the residential houses based on the real calculations for the participants' houses.

3. To develop Energy Saving Program for a building using theoretical knowledge and practical skills of the participants who completed their training (individually or in groups).

4. Fundamentals of energy saving culture with a special focus on efficient, sustainable household energy consumption.

Training cession may be conducted at DTEK Academy in Kiev (75 Zhilyanskaya St.) or on the customer's site

Unit 1. Energy Audit


What is Energy Audit? Types of Energy Audit. Relative indicators of energy consumption. Tool to coolect data on residential premises.

Unit 2. Energy saving for buildings and constructions General concepts


Energy audit: Energy audit stages. Structural elements of a house. Types of energy used in a residential house. Causes of energy loss.


Standards of utilizing energy in residential houses. Comparing actual facts and standards: key indicators.

Unit 3. Energy saving for buildings and constructions Preparing measures


Preparing energy saving measures based on the project results. Types and standard offers of measures for basic losses. Stages of a residential house thermal modernisation. Project financing.




Form of reporting based on the energy audit conducted, preliminary calculation of economic and energy effect of implementation. Implementation of energy saving measures based on the results of the project. Introduction of energy saving into the system.

Energy audit programs for residential houses. Input of data. Preparing a report.

Conducting energy audit in a real residential house chosen from among the group participants::

  • staudying the object;
  • defining bottlenecks of possible losses (inefficient use) of energy;
  • conclusions of participants, discussion of results

Training Session Schedule. Day 3. Defending the home task




Presenting the energy audit results of the own residential houses by the training session participants:

  • every training session participant makes their own presentation for their residential house (energy saving program);
  • disussing, exchange of views, questions;
  • issue of certificates confirming participation in the training session;
  • taking pictures of the group, exchange of contact details.
